On Nov. 29, 2022, Extraco Banks purchased the former Texas First State Bank location in Gatesville at 2501 Texas 36 with the intention of moving its Gatesville banking operation to this site in late fall 2023. Previously, Extraco had purchased land located along US Hwy 84 with the intention of building a new branch.

“By renovating an existing bank location, we will be able to move and open our new branch much earlier than we would have if we had built a new branch,” Doug Streater, President and CEO of Extraco Banks, said. “This is the fourth new branch project Extraco has announced this year. We just completed a new branch in College Station, and will break ground on two new branches in the Temple area in 2023.”

The new branch site is less than a mile from the current Gatesville location and conveniently located directly off Hwy 36 with access to US Hwy 84 as well. It will offer the same services and amenities as Extraco’s other financial centers, such as a deposit ATM, Extra Banker video teller, and in-branch access to eBank online banking. Once the new branch is open, Extraco will move its current Gatesville financial center operations to this location.

In addition to this new Gatesville location, customers have access to Extraco’s other locations in Hamilton, Waco and Temple, as well as the Extra Banker virtual teller in McGregor that is available 24 hours a day.

“This new location is an opportunity for Extraco to refresh our commitment to the Gatesville community,” added Tom Creek, Senior Vice President and Market Executive. “We are committed to supporting the financial needs of this area for years to come.”
