Overdraft Protection

When it comes to managing your money, it’s important to have options in the event you overdraw your account.

What is covered under the standard Overdraft Protection service?

  • Writing a check
  • Debit Card recurring payment
  • ACH-Auto Debit
  • Online Banking
  • Bill Pay

Upon approval, Extraco will add the Overdraft Protection service to:

  • Debit Card everyday usage
  • ATM withdrawals

To see if you qualify, call 866.398.7226 or visit your nearest location.

The cost of Overdraft Protection

If you use the service, you will be charged our overdraft fee of $35 for each overdrawn item created by a traditional paper-based check, an automatic payment (ACH) transaction, recurring debit card payment, online banking, and bill pay. Also, if you have requested us to do so, we may authorize and cover ATM transfers or withdrawals and everyday debit card purchases. Your available balance may be affected by debit card pre-authorizations which could create additional overdrafts and associated fees. For example, three paid items in one day will result in $105 in Overdraft Privilege fees. Up to 4 items are allowed per day.

The best way to avoid overdrafts and fees is to keep track of your account balance by entering all checks, debit card purchases and ATM withdrawals in your check register, reconcile your checkbook regularly and manage your finances responsibly. However, if a mistake occurs, Extraco offers additional ways to cover overdrafts in addition to Overdraft Privilege. This includes an Overdraft Protection Sweep from a Money Market savings account or other deposit accounts.

Excessive use of overdraft protection will result in discontinuation of this service.
